While accidents are covered immediately, illness cover and other benefits do come with specific waiting periods.
Pre-existing conditions not covered
Main cover – Cover for vet bills arising from the diagnosis and/or treatment of accidental injuries. Per claim limit: R17 000
Third-party liability – Cover for costs arising from injury or damage caused by your pet. Annual limit: R400 000
Hereditary conditions – Cover for conditions passed down in your pet’s bloodline or common to a specific breed. Annual limit: R1 300
Hospitalisation – Costs incurred for your pet’s hospitalisation for treating an insured condition. Annual limit: R3 250
Medication – Approved medication prescribed by your vet for the treatment of an insured condition. Annual limit: R3 250
Pathology – Tests needed for proper diagnosis of your pet’s insured condition. Annual limit: R3 250
Radiology – X-rays and scans needed for proper diagnosis of your pet’s insured condition. Annual limit: R3 250
Surgery – Costs for surgery necessary to treat an insured condition. Per claim limit: R8 000
Other non-elective costs – Any other treatment prescribed by your vet for the treatment of your pet’s insured condition. Per claim limit: R7 500
Excess Buster – Reduces or removes the amount you need to pay in the event of a claim
Cover Gap Extension – Mind the gap! Remove specific limits to give you extra cover when you need it most
Funeral Support – Provides a financial contribution to assist with the cost of cremation or burial for a pet
