The Madikwena Game Farm & Crocodile Ranch, nestled in the heart of the Groot Marico Bushveld, offers a malaria-free haven. Groot Marico, located in the North West Province, draws its name from the Groot Marico River, a rare perennial river in the region. Established by the Voortrekkers in the 1850s, the town was formally proclaimed in 1948. Renowned writer Herman Charles Bosman immortalized the essence of this area in his works, describing it as a place uniquely enriched with the authentic spirit of South Africa.

This is the land of mampoer, South Africa’s famed ‘moonshine.’ Crafted from fruits, primarily peaches or marulas, it bears the name of the esteemed Pedi chief, Mampuru.
