Easy Summer Dog Treat Recipes

Few things make us happier than a scoop of our favourite ice cream to cool us off when the summer heat strikes. And it doesn’t seem fair that we humans should have all the ice cream to ourselves, does it? However, before you give your dog a scoop of the tasty stuff, keep in mind that dogs shouldn’t always eat our delicious freezer treats due to their high sugar content and additives. Peanut butter & jam frozen “toasts”

Frozen peanut butter dog treats Peanut butter and jam is one of those classics that we all know about! These ingredients are a staple in nearly every family’s pantry and it is perfectly safe to use in your dogs home made treats. Natural peanut butter (make sure it contains absolutely no sugar substitutes or high sugar content) and frozen beauties are a healthy treat for your dog. These are the perfect treat to keep your dog happy and cool during the Summer!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of strawberries
  • ¼ cup of water
  • A few dollops of natural xylitol-free peanut butter

Method:

  1. Wash your strawberries thoroughly and slice off the tops.
  2. Add your strawberries and water to the blender and whizz until you form a smooth puree.
  3. Pour the liquid into your ice cube trays and fill around ¾ of the way.
  4. Grab a teaspoon and add a small amount of the peanut butter into each slot.
  5. Pop your tray into the freezer and leave until completely frozen.
  6. Yum!  Serve these delicious treats straight out of the freezer and watch your pup enjoy

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of plain or Greek yogurt
  • Small handful of fresh parsley leaves
  • Small handful of fresh mint leaves

Method:

  1. Scoop your yogurt into a blender and add your parsley and mint leaves.
  2. Blend until the herbs are evenly spread throughout the mixture. At this point you can add a splash of water if you want to thin out your mixture to create a better pouring consistency.
  3. Fill your ice cube trays to the brim and pop them in the freezer.
  4. Freeze until solid and serve.

  2. Wait until the coconut softens and shape into bite-sized balls.
  3. Place the balls on a tray and put them in the freezer.
  4. Serve when hardened.
