DARG – Domestic Animal Rescue Group

Three animals for adoption at DARG

About DARG

We Give Dogs and Cats a Second Chance

DARG is a pro-life, non-profit organisation that rescues, cares for, sterilizes and rehomes previously abused, neglected and abandoned cats and dogs. DARG provides a crucial role for the communities of Imizamo Yethu, Hangberg and the greater Hout Bay area.

Situated on a large plot in Hout Bay, Western Cape, DARG provides shelter for its rescues through housing an extensive cat garden, cat sanctuary, outdoor and indoor kennel areas as well as indoor rooms for those animals in treatment or rehabilitation.

DARG relies on the public’s generosity and support through donations – if you’d like to help, click here!

What is the adoption process like?

Applicants complete an application form once they choose an animal. A home check is then done and if approved, the adult dog mostly goes on foster for a trial period if there is another dog in the home or a cat. Cats, puppies and kittens are straight up adoptions.

Do the animals get spayed/neutered before adoption? Up to date on vaccines? Microchipped?

All animals are sterilised, have up-to-date vacs and are microchipped.

Do you have any pets with special needs?

Yes, we do!

How far do you travel for home visits?

We mostly home in the Southern Suburbs but can definitely do home checks in the Northern Suburbs. If the home is further afield, we request the help of another reputable shelter.
