The inception of KC Dog School dates back to 1995. Prior to delving into dog training, I had a fulfilling career as a primary school teacher for over two decades. However, a life-altering car accident became the catalyst for a significant shift in my career trajectory, leading me to leave teaching behind and embrace full-time dog training.
My journey with dogs began in 1972, initially training the family Labrador at a local dog club. It was there that I encountered Border Collies and instantly developed a deep fondness for the breed. Despite my admiration, as a student teacher, I lacked the time and resources to welcome one into my life.
Following my graduation in 1978, an unexpected win in a singing competition presented me with the means to acquire my first Border Collie, Misty’s Shadow. Training her became a passion, leading us to compete in various competitions where she excelled and garnered numerous awards. Notably, she was among the pioneering dogs in South Africa to participate in Dog Jumping, an early form of canine agility.
Subsequently, my canine family expanded with Sheba, a black German Shepherd, who, much like Misty’s Shadow, achieved significant success and earned several accolades.
Presently, my companions consist of Tannah, a 13-year-old Black and Tan German Shepherd, and Blair, a 3-and-a-half-year-old Black and White Border Collie, who continue to bring joy and fulfillment to my life.
