How Does PawPay Work?
FAQs
How does PawPay protect me from breeder scams?
PawPay protects pet purchasers by holding the payment in a secure escrow account until the pet has been safely delivered to its new owner. This ensures that funds are only released to the breeder once you have confirmed your new pet's safe arrival. This system helps to prevent scams and provides peace of mind for those looking to buy puppies, kittens, dogs, or cats in South Africa.
What is the cost of using PawPay for my pet purchase?
When you use PawPay, you will pay an additional 10% of the total payment price to cover the PawPay management fee. This fee covers the cost of the escrow service and ensures a secure transaction. For example, if you're purchasing puppies or kittens, the total cost will include this management fee to protect your payment.
Does PawPay verify the breeders I buy from?
No, PawPay does not take responsibility for vetting breeders to ensure they are registered or follow responsible and ethical breeding practices. It is recommended that you conduct a thorough vetting process to ensure that the breeder you are purchasing from is registered with KUSA, CanineSA, TSACC, or similar organizations and that you read reviews from previous clients. PawPay does not guarantee the health of the pet and, therefore, recommends that you take your new pet to the vet immediately after purchase and request veterinary care records from the breeder before purchase. The PawPay service is solely focused on providing a secure payment platform to prevent financial scams. It is essential to do your own research and verify the credibility of dog and cat breeders before making a purchase.
What happens if there is a problem with the pet after the purchase?
PawPay does not offer any services after the purchase of the pet. Any issues or concerns related to the pet's health or behavior must be addressed directly with the breeder. Always ensure you understand the breeder's policies on returns or exchanges before completing the transaction.
How do I use PawPay to buy a pet?
To use PawPay, you will need to agree on the pet and payment amount with the breeder. You will then pay the agreed amount into the PawPay account, where the funds will be held securely until your new pet is delivered. Once you confirm the pet's safe delivery, the payment will be released to the breeder. This process applies whether you are buying dogs, cats, puppies, or kittens, ensuring a smooth and secure transaction.
Is PawPay available for all types of pets?
PawPay is primarily designed for purchasing common household pets such as dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens; however, it can be used for any pet purchase. It provides a secure platform for these transactions, ensuring that your payment is protected until the pet is safely delivered.
How do I confirm the safe delivery of my pet?
Once your pet has been delivered to you, you will need to confirm its safe arrival by emailing woof@pets24.co.za with a photograph proving receipt. This confirmation will release the funds to the breeder. It is crucial to thoroughly check the pet's condition upon delivery to ensure it matches the agreed-upon terms with the breeder, whether you are purchasing puppies, kittens, or any other pets.
What if the breeder does not deliver the pet as agreed?
If the breeder fails to deliver the pet as agreed, the funds held in the PawPay escrow account will not be released. This protects the pet purchaser from losing their money to a scam. You can then take appropriate action to resolve the issue, knowing that your payment is secure. This makes PawPay a reliable choice for transactions with dog and cat breeders in South Africa. The payment amount will be returned to your account if the agreed-upon pet is not safely delivered to you by the breeder.
