Nestled on the outskirts of Centurion, just a stone’s throw from Erasmia, lies a true paradise for dogs and their owners—Moonlight Estates Dog Park. This expansive, fully fenced dog park offers everything your furry friend could dream of, whether it’s a day of off-leash play, a peaceful hike, or even a cosy overnight stay.
The park’s founder has always had a deep love for animals, especially dogs. As a teenager, she became the youngest certified dog handler in South Africa. This passion for working with dogs grew over the years, leading her to leave a previous job during pregnancy and the onset of COVID-19 to focus on dog training full-time.
Starting out by helping clients with obedience training and protection training for shop owners, the founder’s journey soon led to the creation of a dedicated training facility that also offered doggy daycare. As the demand for these services grew, the need for a larger space became apparent, prompting a move to Centurion—a decision that marked the beginning of the dream that is now Moonlight Estates.
A Space Designed for Dogs to Thrive
Moonlight Estates isn’t just a dog park; it’s also a pet boarding and daycare facility, designed with love and care for dogs of all kinds. Here, your pets can roam free, safely enclosed in private parks where they can burn off energy, socialise, and have the time of their lives—all while you unwind in shaded, comfortable areas.
The park was born out of a desire to provide dog owners with a safe, expansive space where their dogs can play off-leash and enjoy the outdoors to the fullest. Many dog owners, particularly those with high-energy or working breeds, know that a simple walk around the neighbourhood isn’t always enough. Moonlight Estates offers the perfect solution: wide open spaces where dogs can run, play, and simply be dogs.
The park itself is set on a sprawling 21-hectare farm, offering stunning views of the Magalies Mountains. There are two distinct parks to suit different dog sizes and groups.
- Park 1: A cosy 30m x 30m space, perfect for smaller breeds. It’s fully fenced for safety, and features a seated, shaded area where owners can relax while their dogs splash around in the water.
- Park 2: A larger area at 60m x 60m, catering to bigger breeds or groups of dogs. With more advanced obstacles and a shaded swimming area, it’s a favourite for energetic dogs. Owners can unwind in the shade, knowing their pets are having a blast in a secure environment.
For those who enjoy a bit of adventure, Moonlight Estates also offers hiking trails in the Crocodile Nature Reserve, thanks to a partnership with a private resort. With 3km, 5km, and 10km trails, there’s a perfect walk for every level of fitness. After your hike, your dog can relax and cool off back at the park.
More Than Just a Park: A Commitment to Dog Welfare
In addition to the dog park, Moonlight Estates also plays a vital role in the rehabilitation and rehoming of Belgian Malinois and Dutch Shepherds. Recognising the unique needs of these breeds, the founder teamed up with a friend to establish a sanctuary dedicated to finding these wonderful dogs the right homes.
To make your visit even more convenient, Moonlight Estates offers pre-ordered food and drinks, ready and waiting for you when you arrive. Plus, there are on-site toilets for your comfort.
Whether you’re looking for a fun day out, a place to train your dog in a fresh environment, or even a venue for your pet’s birthday party, Moonlight Estates Dog Park has you covered. With half-day and full-day booking options, you can customise your experience to suit your needs.
